Family Tree of the Balbis of Genoa
The Balbi family lived in the Scrivia Valley prior to Genoa. Allegrino Balbi was born in about the early 1400's and records reflect that he established his family in Ronco Scrivia. It is believed that he had five children: Maria, Antonio, Giovanna, Pietro, and Nicolo who was the patriarch of the Genoese Balbi family. From research of this family in Genoa we know with certainty the following, but also that there were more lines than are reflected below. In about the mid -1400's Nicolo had two sons, Giovan Battista and Bartolomeo. Bartolomeo had one son, Nicolo I. Nicolo I had eight surviving children, four daughters, and four sons who headed the four Balbi family branches: Gerolamo I, Pantaleo I, Gio Francesco I, and Bartolomeo I. The following family tree lists their descendants.
